That Brightest Morn

The chill kiss of winter touches the earth,
The flower of life now dies.
Darkness descends and devours the day;
Truth is strangled by lies.

Yet far beneath the frostbitten ground,
New life begins to sing.
The light stretches out against the shadow,
Reversing death’s cold sting.

Now bursting from the gloom of Hell,
The Word of Life appears.
Silence is broken and death has died;
New joy dries our tears.

Death was defeated that glorious morn,
The Savior provided a way.
The second Adam slayed our sin-
The Serpent was crushed that day.
